Paul Hobbs 2024 Lindsay Estate Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley

99 Points
Rare new single vineyard Pinot Noir release from one of California's most celebrated winemakers Paul Hobbs.

97+ Points Jeb Dunnuck: "The more elegant and floral of the two Katherine Lindsay wines, the Hobbs 2024 Pinot Noir Katherine Lindsay Estate comes from dramatically different soils with profound acidity and salty earthiness. High-toned and iron-driven, it has bright red clay-like minerality reminiscent of Oregon’s ancient seabeds. Medium-bodied, it’s focused and coiled, with long persistence and beautiful orange zest tones. A gorgeous wine."

95 Wine Spectator: "This is solidly built, with punchy notes of blackberry and morello cherry paste wrapped in singed apple wood, iris and black tea. Shows lovely energy, with its steady juiciness lending a persistent edge on the finish. Drink now through 2036. 890 cases made. "

The Katherine Lindsay Estate Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley is renowned for its exquisite balance and vivid expression. Grown on Sebastopol sandy loam with a clonal selection of Calera and rooted on 3309 stock, the vineyard’s varied exposure and gentle slopes contribute to the wine’s complexity. The winemaking process is meticulous, featuring indigenous yeast fermentation, a significant cold soak, and a lengthy maceration period, all culminating in aging in French oak barrels. The resulting wine captivates with its deep ruby hue and a palate graced by a symphony of red fruits, accented with hints of Earl Grey tea, white pepper, and red clay, all supported by silky tannins and a lively acidity that carries through to a memorable finish.
