Nid Tissé 2023 Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay, Russian River Valley

99 points - rare

Rare boutique Chardonnay from the legendary Hyde Vineyard - limited.

99 Points James Suckling:
"This has the classic richness and depth of this noted vineyard, braced by vivid acidity for an elegant, soft and silky feel. It’s difficult to imagine a better California chardonnay, as it combines great balance and freshness with creaminess, breadth, and length in the finish. Sliced pears, cream, and hints of mangoes, green apples, butter, and lemon curd. Drink now or hold. "

96 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "From a great site in Carneros, the Nid Tisse 2023 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard shows Chablis-like vibrancy in its ripe lemon curd, oyster shell, white flowers, and obvious minerality. Fermented in 16% French new oak and 14% in clay amphora, then aged on fine lees for 12 months, it's medium-bodied, with a fresh, focused, racy mouthfeel, good concentration, and outstanding length. Drink this brilliant Carneros Chardonnay over the coming decade. Drink 2025-2035."

97 Points International Wine Review: "The 2023 NID TISSÉ Chardonnay from Hyde Vineyard is a beautifully crafted wine that combines precision, energy, and depth. Aromatically, it’s layered and expressive, with notes of lemon zest, white peach, green apple skin, chamomile, and crushed seashells, accented by subtle hints of flint, hazelnut, and fresh cream. On the palate, it’s finely textured and vibrant, delivering flavors of ripe citrus, pear, and a touch of saline minerality, all carried by a firm spine of acidity. The finish is long, focused, and clean, leaving behind impressions of wet stone and citrus oil."

Marie-Laure Ammons founded Nid Tissé, the name itself translates to “woven nest”, in French. A native of France, she studied wine in Burgundy and Bordeaux. Nid Tisse evokes traveling to a new place and making a home - hers being in Napa Valley for nearly 20 years, 18 of them working with Philippe Melka. Nid Tisse reflects a marriage of the old and new world -California sunshine with freshness, texture and ability to gracefully age that are rooted in the tradition of old world wines. Great wines come from great vineyards and she is excited be working with the historic vineyards and some of the great grape growing families in the region, Bacigalupi and Hyde.
