Jayson Woodbridge applies his signature brand of genius to this new project from very old vines. 85-90-years-old, to be more specific. 92% Cabernet Sauvignon is bolstered by a proprietary selection of red varieties tucked into the vineyard. Deep in color and flamboyant in presentation, the nose is rich with redcurrant preserves, cassis, dark chocolate and roses, plus hints of Indian spices and a hard line of iron ore. The palate is pure velvet, beautifully fresh and loaded with spicy layers. Fans and followers of Hundred Acre will want to scoop up this well-priced endeavor from such a renowned winemaker.
previous vintage 96 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "Coming from two vineyards, the Fortunate Son Cabernet Sauvignon The Dreamer sports a vivid purple hue to go with beautiful aromatics of darker currants, ripe cranberries, leafy tobacco, and spring flowers. I love its balance, it's medium to full-bodied, has gorgeous tannins, and a great finish."
previous vintage 95 Points Robert Parker: "Coming from a vineyard close to Hundred Acre's Few and Far Between vineyard and planted to 85- to 90-year-old vines, the Fortunate Son Cabernet Sauvignon The Dreamer is made from around 92% Cabernet Sauvignon with a small proportion of unknown red varieties interplanted. Deep garnet-purple in color, it bursts with flamboyant notes of redcurrant preserves, cassis, dark chocolate, violets and red roses, plus fragrant hints of Indian spices and camphor, with a suggestion of iron ore. The medium to full-bodied palate is fabulously velvety, delivering beautiful freshness and loads of spicy layers, finishing very long."
