Baker & Hamilton 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
$124.99Baker & Hamilton 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
A fantastic new Oakville Cabernet from boutique producer Baker & Hamilton. Limited.
95 Points Wine Spectator: "This is packed with vivid boysenberry, mulberry and black currant fruit that bursts forth with energy, while being held in check by graphite, anise and apple wood notes that lend good underlying tension. Features bramble and warm stone accents on the finish, as the fruit races through. Best from 2023 through 2038."
93 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a new wine made by the Phillips family, owners of Vine Hill Ranch, and winemaker Françoise Peschon. It is without question one of the most impressive debuts I tasted this year. Silky and gracious, the 2019 is a wonderfully understated, classy Cabernet that shows the more restrained side of the year in its super-classic mid-weight feel. Cedar, tobacco and sweet floral notes add gorgeous inner perfume. You don’t have to have a Nobel Prize to figure out what the vineyard source is. Let’s leave it at that.
The Baker & Hamilton 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from the legendary Vine Hill Ranch. This vineyard is on par with To-Kalon Vineyard. The fruit at one time went solely to Andre Telchelistcheff for the BV George de Latour Cabernet. Today it is sourced by Colgin, Harlan (BOND), Tor, Momento Mori and Accendo among others. This is a fantastic buy for Cab of this pedigree!
Francoise Peschon is the winemaker. After 15 years at Araujo, Francoise now consults for Cornell Vineyards and is the winemaker for Heimark, Vine Hill Ranch, and the white wines at Accendo and others. She was named 2021 "Winemaker of the Year" by Vinous. Mike Wolf (Vine Hill Ranch, Scarecrow, Heimark) is the vineyard manager.
